About Us
Matua Community Incorporated is a registered not-for-profit organisation supporting Pasifika seniors across the Gold Coast and surrounding suburbs. We bring our mātua together to build community through culture, connection, and fun.
Every week, we gather to enjoy joyful activities that support wellbeing, including creative expression, gentle exercise, meaningful talanoa, and fellowship. Our mission is to honour the wisdom, stories, and strength of our elders while reducing isolation, enhancing wellbeing, and fostering intergenerational pride.
Many of our mātua have journeyed from across the Pacific, carrying deep cultural knowledge, strong values, and a legacy of resilience. Adjusting to life in a new country can be challenging, and our programs provide a culturally safe space where identity, belonging, and connection are restored.
Our mafutaga is a time to reconnect — to laugh, sing, dance, play, share stories, and be grounded in our cultural and spiritual roots. From games and arts and crafts to shared meals and gentle movement, each gathering is filled with warmth, joy, and a strong sense of community.
